Toyota Corolla Tail Lights

September 10, 2010

Tail lights are very easy to overlook. Sometimes a tail light can be out for months without the owner of the vehicle knowing. It is always imperative to check the functionality of tail lights before driving a Toyota Corolla or any other car. “What is the difference between a tail light and a headlight?” one might ask. It is simple and will be described shortly. Toyota Corollas have very unique tail lights and fit the overall coolness look of the vehicle, but operate no differently than any other tail lights. I used to drive a Toyota Corolla and never once had problems with the tail lights, but then again, I only had the car for 1 year. It is not recommended to go more than a year without occasionally checking the status of a taillight on a Corolla.
Checking the status or life of a tail light is simple. I would recommend at least once a week checking the tail lights in your Corolla or checking with Toyota, the manufacturer of Corollas, to see when they recommend checking the tail lights or replacing them. A quick and easy way to check tail lights is to have a friend or family member get into the car and press the brakes and turn on each respective turn signal blinker. Toyota Corolla taillights are located on the rear end of the car on the left and right sides. They are sometimes referred to as, back eyes, but typically not. Toyota Corolla tail lights will function for multiple purposes but the most important are: notifying a close driver behind that the Corolla driver is stopping, and letting another driver one is sharing the road with when the Corolla is turning either to the left or the right. A tail light will do different things on a Corolla when either of the 2 previously mentioned operat5ions take place. When a turn signal is active, either the left or right tail light will blink notifying the other drivers that the Toyota Corolla is about to turn. When the brakes are applied, the taillights will become brighter making it easier for another driver to know when the Corolla is stopping.
What is the expected life of a tail light on a Toyota Corolla? That could depend on a number of different things. One could be the integrity of the fuses that are connected to the tail lights and one could be the light bulbs themselves that actually produce the light. Either way, if a Toyota Corolla is bought brand new from a dealership and driven be 1 driver, eventually that driver will need to replace the tail lights. Tail lights for a Toyota Corolla can be purchased at an online car parts distributor that sells parts for Toyota cars and trucks, or a local auto parts store. Typically Toyota Corolla tail lights are not very expensive and are easy to replace but it is always easier to replace a tail light than try and fix a burnt light.
